Description: Replace 3 windows - no size change update: 1/25/2012 by carlos ruiz, preservation coordinator action: the certificate of appropriateness has been approved for 3 windows (windows #1 and # 2 on the side west elevation and window #4 on the side east elevation/second floor and closer to the rear of the house). the replacement windows match the style, material, number of divided lights and muntins profile (when present), glass area and overall dimensions (as close as possible) of the existing wood windows. if true divided lights are present, the new window should have simulated divided lights (sdls). in regard to window #3, the preservation commission is strongly recommending restoring window #3 (presumably an original wood window) on the east side elevation and closer to the front of the house. weather stripping, insulation and a storm window will provide the desirable energy efficiency and performance. if restoration is not feasible the owner or applicant should provide information that the window is beyond repair/restoration in order to obtain approval for its replacement with a window that will match the existing window.
